February 29, 2024 Lynn Allen

The 7th International Olympic Committee (IOC) World Conference on Prevention of Injury and Illness in Sport took place in Monaco from 29 February to 2 March 2024, with both ARTI executive members and Certified Athletic Therapists in attendance.

World experts from across Sport and Exercise Medicine gathered for the 3-day conference on Injury Prevention where delegates had an option to attend numerous different keynotes, workshops, head-to-head debates and oral presentations. The quality of the presentations and research showcased was outstanding, making it difficult to decide which ones to attend.

Over the 3 days, ARTI representatives (Lynn Allen President and Frank Devereux VP) networked with World Federation of Athletic Training and Therapy (WFATT) representatives from BASRaT (Steve Aspinel, Al Munro), CATA (Melanie Levac and Kirsten Kidd), NATA/BOC (Kathy Dieringer, Scott Lawrance, Valerie Herzog), current WFATT president (Brian Zeller) and past president (Glen Bergeron). Having such great working relationships with the World Federation and each of the partner organisations, it allows us to collaborate and champion the Athletic Training and Therapy profession globally. It provides us with a unique platform to progress in world of sports medicine also. We were delighted to see that both WFATT and CATA were proudly displayed as patrons of the IOC conference.
